I read books, blog about them and make all kinds of book related videos on youtube.

What We Saw At Night

What We Saw at Night - Jacquelyn Mitchard Note: I received an ARC from Netgalley. This story is about three teenagers. Alexis, called Allie, Rob and Juliette. They all are suffering from XP and therefore can only eave the house at night. Juliette is a former athlete and now discovered Parcour. So the three of them use the nights to practice and scout places. At one night they see a man in an apartment who tries to revive a woman. They woman already looks really pale and they believe she is dead. Allie is the only one who is wondering about this and she asks questions. Which makes her a target. Little does she know at this point that one of her best friends knows the killer quite well. The book started rather slow in my opinion I was still drawn into it because I have a thing for books which deal with medical stuff. So this was my cup of tea. At about 40% in it started to pick up the pace and the storyline got a little scarier, maybe even dark and creepy. There were a lot of twists and turns which made the book more confusing to me than to build tension. I really enjoyed the last 20% which is why I gave the book 4 stars. I'm not a fan of the ending though. A little more closure would have been nice.

What I Didn't Say

What I Didn't Say - Keary Taylor What I didn't say...I got the book without reading the synopsis and expected it to be a nice summery read. Boy was I wrong... Jake, senior in high school has a crush on Samantha but is too shy to tell her. One day at a party though, he is drunk and decides to tell her. So his two friends and him hop into the car and drive to her house. The only problem is, they never arrive there. Too much alcohol involved leads to a terrible accident which changes Jakes live forever. I enjoyed the book a lot. It drew me in completely and made me feel all the emotions the main character is going though. It made me cry, smile and giggle and reevaluate my own life. This book comes really close to John Green's "the fault in our stars" and i highly recommend it.

The Guardian's Chronicles: A New Dawn: 1

A New Dawn - Ann H. Barlow The main character in this book is Sahara, who has been in several accidents and always survived. Other people, including her parents and her brother have died. She believes it is bad luck sitting in a car or train with her. She is in a relationship with Nigel, who turns out to be abusive. Sahara leaves him and hides out in another town. After a few weeks he finds her and threatens to hurt her again. Sahara get's really angry and all of a sudden she has abilities she never new existed. From that day on her life changes completely. She learns about a world where different (not human) creatures exist. One of them is Romero who is her Guardian. He is there to protect her and has been protecting her family since the 1700s. Romero was captured by Barak and can only communicate with Sahara though her thoughts. When I read the synopsis of this book I though it sounded really good and I was excited to start reading it. The storyline started fast paced and as long as I learned more about Sahara, her relationships to her grandmother and her boyfriend I really felt contempt reading it. But the further the storyline progressed the slower it got in my opinion. It felt really flat to me and I was always hoping to find the arch to more suspense when I turned the next page. Unfortunately, there never was one. Furthermore, I felt that there were too many characters involved. Some were not properly introduced and I sometimes was confused as to who they were. I think there could have been done much more with the story if the focus had been on fewer characters and their backstories. As it was most of the characters weren't given the depths I was hoping for.

The Basic Eight

The Basic Eight - Daniel Handler It took me way too long to get into this book and at some points I felt like I was drunk or on drugs because I was so confused with the plot. But I have to say the last 80 pages or so definitely grabbed me and the twist at the end I didn't see coming at all.

The Kite Runner Edition: Reprint

The Kite Runner (Movie Tie-In) - Khaled Hosseini What a powerful and beautifully written book. A rollercoster of emotions. This book broadened my horizon a lot. I learned about Afghanistan's history from another perspective, learned about Muslim customs and traditions and even learned some new words. This book made me go through so many emotions and a lot of times I teared up. I highly recommend this book to everyone.

The Mysterious Benedict Society and The Prisoner's Dilemma (Mysterious Benedict Society Series #3)

The Mysterious Benedict Society and the Prisoner's Dilemma - Trenton Lee Stewart, Diana Sudyka didn't expect the 3rd book in the series to be this strong. Really great read and a nice wrap up for the whole story. I loved to see how the kids and their talents develop throughout the series and to find out more about Constance's (short) life before the society.

The Mysterious Benedict Society and the Perilous Journey (Mysterious Benedict Society Series #2)

The Mysterious Benedict Society and the Perilous Journey - Diana Sudyka, Trenton Lee Stewart not as strong as the first book but still a really enjoyable read.

The Maintenance of Headway

The Maintenance of Headway - Magnus Mills Hilarious book! I never thought telling a story about the "art of bus driving" could be so entertaining.

The Mysterious Benedict Society (Mysterious Benedict Society Series #1)

The Mysterious Benedict Society - Carson Ellis, Trenton Lee Stewart This story reminded me a lot of a mix of Harry Potter and the Roald Dahl books. Really cute story. The characters are greatly developed and the storyline has everything you could hope for. There're little twists and turns that you don't see coming and that have you yell "no way!" while reading the book. Even if the story seems a little slow at some parts, the language which is a rather high level totally makes up for it.

Speak

Speak - Laurie Halse Anderson An amazing book! All the emotions Melinda feels in the book I felt while reading. I was completely drawn into the book and couldn't put it down. I also really liked the fact that only after you're halfway in the book Melinda finally tells you as the reader what happened to her in summer, even though at that point you're able to figure it out yourself.

Delirium (Delirium #1)

Delirium (Delirium #1) - Lauren Oliver Yes, I read this dystopian novel too. I wasn't sure if I'd like it because I'm quite hesitant when it comes to romance novels, which this book holds quite a big part about. They are just not my cup of tea. But I was intrigued by the idea to see love as a disease. At the end I really enjoyed this book. It was full of real life points and held a lot of tension. And even the whole love story part felt really cute. The writing style drew me in completely and I couldn't put the book down once I reached 50% on my e-reader.

Paper Towns

Paper Towns - John Green It's starting a little slow but turns into a really great book. The ending is beautiful.

Seriously...I'm Kidding

Seriously...I'm Kidding - Ellen DeGeneres Nice and quick read. Nothing for you if you're looking for something deep but if you like Ellen Degeneres' humor you should give it a try.

The Help

The Help - Kathryn Stockett I really enjoyed this book a lot. It had a really nice pace throughout the whole story and was never boring. I went through a lot of feelings while reading it too, I felt angry, sad, happy...for the characters. A really good book which I can recommend to everyone.

An Abundance of Katherines

An Abundance of Katherines - John Green I really had problems getting into this book. It felt kind of slow and flat. Colin is a really boring and whiny character in my opinion. And I'm still trying to find the story in the book. Not John Green's best work.

The Fault in Our Stars

The Fault in Our Stars - John Green Oh my god. This is such a perfect book. It's sad, funny, exciting...It just has everything. I felt completely in peace with myself and the world while reading it. I didn't cry though which might have to do with the fact that I already lost way too many loved-ones to cancer in real life. Also, I really want to read "An Imperial Affliction" now...too bad it doesn't exist.
